Nagarjuna's Letter to a Friend

Khenpo Ugyen Tenzin

Translator: Jigme Nyima

This date will actually be the start of this seminar, as the May 21 -23 date had to be canceled due to moving into the new building

The great Indian Buddhist master Nagarjuna (1st - 2nd century A.D.) wrote his celebrated poem Letter to a Friend as a letter of advice to a king with whom he was friendly. Despite its short length (only 123 verses), it is a monument in the Indian Buddhist tradition. It covers the whole Mahayana path with unusual clarity and memorable imagery, and it is for this reason that it is widely quoted by Tibet's great masters and scholars in the many commentaries they have written on the Buddhist path. Khenpo Ugyen will explain these verses, which without commentary can be hard to understand.

Cost of the teaching: $120/96 members.

Accommodation and meals in the new building are available.

The lineage history of the Karmapas has miraculous accounts of prophesy, supernatural occurrences, visions and prophetic dreams. Hearing these biographies helps both as an example on the path and the recognition of the Karma Kagyu Lineage.
